Heritage (inc. galleries and museums)

How do I get into it?

The cultural heritage industry includes 6,000 organisations which range from small volunteer run to large public sector and independent institutions. There is high demand for a limited number of paid entry-level positions. ()

Museums and galleries increasingly look to position themselves at the heart of local communities and as a result call on a range of specialist skills and experience. There is still a role for what we think of as traditional museum professionals, but museums look for transferable skills and employ other professionals, including educators, craftspeople, designers, technicians, fundraisers and business people. ().
